The Triad Centre

Most of the service users supported by Autism Solutions Ltd have experienced significant placement breakdown within their lives. This often includes exclusion from school, college, day centres and recreational centres. Often it is the quality of the environment and the need for adherance to appointment times which cause a significant problem for such individuals. At Autism Solutions Ltd, we recognise the need to ensure that the environment is "autism friendly". It should be calm and quiet, decorated appropriately, have good light levels, be free of intrusive sounds and, above all, not be subject to strict time limitations for partaking in activities. As it is extremely difficult to find venues which achieve such "autism friendliness", Autism Solutions Ltd have decided to develop an appropriate resource of their own.

The TRIAD Centre (Training, Recreation, and Individually Assessed Development) was officially opened on 10th May 2007 by local author and parent, Diana Crighton. It includes facilities for a range of activities - soft exercise area, sensory area, craft area, quiet (learning) area and a cafe. These and other activities will be developed during the post opening period.

Most importantly, there will be no pressure on the service users who attend the centre - if they take thirty minutes to exit their car for swimming, they will not have lost their opportunity. In common with the policy of Autism Solutions Ltd that all service users will take part in scheduled activities (as long as they wish to) whatever their preceding behaviour, all activities which they are due to attend at the centre will be available to them - when they are ready to take part.

Some of our individuals have achieved units in making place mats, cooking simple snacks and laying the table. Each unit is worked on individually and evidence is supported by worksheets and photographs. Once a unit is complete it is verified by AQA and a certificate of acheivement is then awarded. Individuals can build up a portfolio of acheivements (some for the first time in thier lives)
